On Life

- Diese Welt ist der Wille zur Macht — und nichts außerdem! Und auch ihr selber seid dieser Wille zur Macht — und nichts außerdem!
- But this is just a higher-level metaphor that only applies to complex life forms such as homo sapiens is.
- Fundamentally: all life seeks to expand.
- But ‘seek’ is yet just another metaphor. It gives colors where there are none, it assigns human motives where there is nothing but insipid events.
- Therefore: all life blindly expands.
- Genes have been expanding for billions of years on end. But this is blind: they just happened to be in the next iteration because its host made it through the current, very specific game in an ungodly, seemingly random setup, of one particular realm of a vast universe.
- Therefore: expansion, pure, unadulterated, and impeccable expansion is the main characteristic of life.
- All life forms have a finite set of energies that simply need to be used up.
- Drive: a low-level embedded software that is regularly run and consumes these resources.
- A human being could be described as a pell-mell of drives that are constantly discharged and vie for dominance (thinking itself can be viewed as a mere relation of these drives to each other).
- As the most advanced life form on the planet, it is high time that we breathed life into this expansion. We must recover from blind expansion. We must find a direction.
- Meaning of life: that is nothing but an avenue, a direction that one apparently chooses to expend one’s energies.
- But this is the job of Morality: a set of thoughts (routed in drives) that ought to set apart the higher from the lower human being.
- And what shall that morality that breathes life into our species’ expansion be?
- Your love of life shall be love of your highest hope; and your highest hope shall be the highest thought of your life. Your highest thought, however, you should receive as a command from me — that it is: man is something that shall be overcome.
